"Yeah, it sucked" - Tiger Woods' return to golf ends in massive defeat in TGL final
Tiger Woods returned to some form of competitive golf during the final of TGL against Los Angeles.
Tiger Woods admitted he was frustrated his return to golf couldn't inspire his Jupiter Links side to the TGL title in Florida.
Woods returned to action on Tuesday night following a 20-month injury layoff.
The 15-time major champion had not swung a club in a competitive environment since missing the cut at the 2024 Open Championship.
He ruptured his Achilles last March and underwent the seventh back surgery of his career two months after the Ryder Cup.
Woods Jupiter Links trailed in the best-of-three final 1-0 following an agonising 6-5 defeat on Monday.
And they were dismantled in just 10 holes on Tuesday, losing 9-2 overall after inspired performances from Ryder Cup teammates Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood and Sahith Theegala.
The trio reeled off three eagles in the match.
It means LA will split the £6.93m prize money, with Woods, Max Homa and Tom Kim sharing £3.46m.
"Yeah, it sucked," a furious Homa said on the broadcast when asked how he was feeling in the immediate aftermath of defeat. "I'm not going to give you a whole lot more than that."
Woods added: "Yeah, we got our ass kicked at the end. We didn't respond and I missed a short one at the beginning to kind of get us started. [It] gave them momentum and [we] never got it back."
Asked what it was like to be back in action, Woods said: "Well, it felt great to be back here with these guys.
"To be back here with Maxi and Tom. This was our team from last year. And, you know, we have so much fun. [During] today's practice session earlier today we're, you know, just giving each other the needle the entire time.
"And [we are] also very supportive at the same time. And then, you know, Kiz [Kevin Kisner] is sending us texts. Akshay's [Bhatia] over there in India sending us his texts. So it was a great team.
"I'm frustrated that we didn't get it done. We had opportunities - like last night we should have won that match. And they took advantage of it.
"And then they steamrolled us at the end tonight. So, yeah, it feels good to be back.
"But I would like to have been back in better circumstances.
"But, that's the way sports is. You put yourself out there. And sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. And you deal with it."
TGL was founded by Woods and Rory McIlroy.
Atlanta Drive, comprised of Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay and Billy Horschel, were the inaugural winners of the indoor league.
Later in his news conference, Woods assessed his chances of playing in the 2026 Masters.
