Rory McIlroy had three words for USGA official when asked to speak with media at US Open
Revealed: Rory McIlroy was once again in no talking mood with reporters after narrowly making the cut at the US Open at Oakmont.
Rory McIlroy is still miffed with the media after shunning reporters for a second straight day at the US Open.
That's now six straight rounds at a major, too.
McIlroy, 36, rejected all interview requests from Thursday to Sunday at last month's US PGA.
The Northern Irishman admitted at last week's RBC Canadian Open that he chose to snub the media at Quail Hollow Club simply because two reporters had leaked information that his driver had failed a USGA test on the eve of golf's second major of the season.
Fast forward a month to the US Open at Oakmont, and McIlroy has continued to pass on interviews after the first two rounds.
McIlroy slumped to a 2-over 72 on Friday.
A birdie on the 18th saw him narrowly scrape through to the weekend.
McIlroy looks on from 6-over par heading into the weekend and nine shots off the pace currently set by Sam Burns, our 66/1 tip.
After signing his card, McIlroy, per Golf Digest, was approached by a USGA official about his availability to speak with the media.
McIlroy walked straight from the scorer's hut to the clubhouse without stopping, merely telling the official: "No, I'm good."
The World No.2 was seen tomahawking his iron in frustration after an errant shot on the 12th.
He then shockingly smashed up a tee box marker on the 17th.
Actions that will likely lead to a fine.

It remains to be seen whether McIlroy can haul himself back in to contention for a second US Open title and second major of the season on Moving Day Saturday at Oakmont.
And whether he will give any time to the media.
