Rory McIlroy CONFIRMED for 2023 BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth
Rory McIlroy has confirmed his participation in this year's flagship DP World Tour event at famed Wentworth.
Rory McIlroy has confirmed his participation in this year's BMW PGA Championship on the famous West Course at Wentworth, England, from September 14-17.
The BMW PGA is still considered by many as the flagship event of the DP World Tour season given the history of the tournament in Virginia Water.
Some would argue the DP World Tour Championship at the end of the season has now replaced it, but we aren't so sure here at GolfMagic.
For us, it will always be the PGA Championship at famed Wentworth, home to European Tour HQ.
The BMW PGA Twitter account teased McIlroy's announcement earlier in the day:

McIlroy, who bids to complete the career grand slam at The Masters next week, will return to Wentworth and attempt to win the coveted title for a second time following his one-stroke victory over Irish compatriot Shane Lowry back in 2014.
Lowry would turn the tables in 2022, however, when running out a one-stroke victory over McIlroy and Jon Rahm.
The tournament was reduced to 54 holes as a result of The Queen's death.
Lowry recently confirmed he will also be back to defend his title this September.
McIlroy, a 15-time winner on the DP World Tour, is the reigning Race to Dubai champion and current 2023 leader following his Dubai Desert Classic victory earlier this season.
"I always love playing at the BMW PGA Championship, and I’ve had some great results and performances round the West Course in the past," said McIlroy. "I started 2023 with a win in Dubai, and Wentworth is a place where I would like to add another title."
The BMW PGA takes place at Wentworth just two weeks before the eagerly-anticipated 2023 Ryder Cup between Europe and the United States.
McIlroy will also be competing in the Irish Open on the DP World Tour a week before Wentworth.
