Garcia signs with Callaway

Sergio Garcia has joined Callaway to play the brand’s woods, irons and wedges, as well as an Odyssey putter and Callaway Chrome Soft ball.

“I`m really excited to switch to Callaway,” said Garcia. “After testing different brands I realised Callaway`s technology and innovation will help me maximise my game and perform to the best of my ability.”

The reigning Masters champion has been working closely with the brand to dial in his specs ahead of the new season.

“The launch monitor doesn’t lie,” said Tim Reed, SVP, Global Sports Marketing, Callaway Golf. “Jailbreak driver technology has upped his distance off the tee. And the combination of Apex irons, Mack Daddy 4 wedges and our Chrome Soft ball has given him tremendous control on approach shots, and around the green.”

On the putting surface, the Spaniard will game a new flat stick.

“It’s an exciting new toe hang mallet that we will launch next month,” said Sean Toulon, SVP, Callaway Golf & GM, Odyssey Brand. “He really likes the choices we have for him, especially the roll enhancing face technologies that our putters feature.”

Garcia left TaylorMade following the brand's separation from Adidas.

The only surprise I get that is the ball choice. Having been very happy with TP5 I would think the change to ChromeSoft is harder to take. Personally I struggle with the ChromeSoft on short game, they just feel too soft .... maybe they are better suited to the Callaway wedges and new putter, others using the ChromeSoft-x?
