The new RAZR X-factor revealed

If you're looking to award yourself a post-Valentine's Day present (if you think you deserve), then post February 15 in your diary and look out for the latest Callaway Golf RAZR series of irons.

The RAZR X, RAZR X Tour and RAZR X Forged irons represent the Chessington, manufacturer's latest line of premium technology equipment 'combining distance, accuracy and workability into a new, complete package.' 

Callaway says extensive player research has shown that golfers tend to strike the ball lower on the clubface so these irons are designed for optimal performance from such shots.  Both the RAZR X and RAZR X Tour irons also contain Callaway’s 'variable face thickness' and undercut cavity power system for maximum ball speed off the clubface.

Says Callaway's British born head of research and development Alan Hocknell: “RAZR technology is a breakthrough in iron design for us. Most irons today are designed for distance, forgiveness or feel our engineers have been able to combine all three as well as workability into the design.

“In the RAZR X iron, we’ve created the ideal iron for golfers looking to make the jump from high handicap to a single figure player, with the versatility and look of a traditional thin sole iron. Golfers can also integrate the new RAZR X hybrids into the lower end of their set,” says Hocknell.

RAZR X Tour Irons offer a more compact head shape with less offset a thinner topline preferred by better players and  'incredible feel at impact.'

The new RAZR X Forged irons have a Tour-inspired head, thin top line, narrow sole shape and featuring a higher, squared-off toe with a sharper leading edge. Currently used by several Callaway Tour players, they have Callaway’s Tour CC grooves, generating increased spin for aggressive shot-making. 

Retail price for RAZR X irons is £599 with steel shafts and £729 with graphite shafts.  For RAZR X Tour irons, with Dynamic Gold steel shafts expect to pay £699, while RAZR X Forged irons will  set you back £799 featuring Project X shafts.
