Odyssey goes to the dark side with the new S2S Tri-Hot Black putter range
Square 2 Square just got sinister

While Odyssey's new zero-torque S2S Tri-Hot range has been largely met with wide acclaim, the looks that come with the best zero torque putters around have always been a little more divisive.
Inspired both by the Tri-Hot name, a classic Odyssey colour and no doubt by Xander Schauffele's choice of putter, the original Tri-Hot line was released in an eye-catching bright crimson: a fairly large side-step in an industry dominated by clean silver and black putters.
The finish was unique, but ultimately if you didn't like the idea of investing in a red putter, there wasn't much to be done about it beyond simply choosing a different putter range altogether.
This, however, is now a thing of the past, as Odyssey today unveiled the S2S Tri-Hot Black putter range: a line that boasts all the zero torque performance with a much more minimalist finish.

The Black line swaps the red for a clean low-gloss matte finish, accented only by white alignment lines. The putters also come equipped with a special blacked-out Superstroke pistol grip, and a Black edition SL 120 shaft.
Beyond the colour, the Tri-Hot is a far more progressive entry into the zero-torque segment from a technical standpoint compared to its predecessor, introducing a number of developments that Odyssey hopes will bring zero-torque technology – something that can be tricky for everyday players to get used to – into the hands of more golfers.
The key change introduced with the Tri-Hot, lending the range its 'pushing zero-torque forward' tagline, is Odyssey's decision to move the centre of gravity in the putter forward towards the face. Made from a combination of aluminium, steel and a huge 140g of Tungsten, most of the heavier materials are placed as far towards the front of the putter as possible, enhancing MOI throughout the stroke.
In practice, this has allowed the brand to move the shaft forward on the putter head in turn, making for a more natural feel when looking over the ball compared to traditional zero-torque putters that have their shafts more centred in the club head.

Leaning once again into Callaway's much-loved theme of AI-developed face technology, a new AI-DUAL insert also debuted in the Tri-Hot range, made with a soft outer layer and a firm inner layer with varying thicknesses that you can actually see in the form of the wavy, inconsistent line that sits just behind the face. It's a cool visual display of technology, but might look a little bit odd if you don't know exactly what it is you're looking at.
The Black line will be available in all the same shapes and configurations as the existing S2S Tri-Hot range, including the #7, Jailbird, Rossie, and Longer Cruiser Variants. The Jailbird, #7 and Rossie will all also come with a Single Bend neck option, which maintains zero-torque while shifting the hosel towards the heel for a more traditional look.
Priced at £519/$599.99, you can shop the full range when it drops on June 23, and learn more at Odyssey's website.
