The latest entry in a rapidly growing line of PXG zero torque putters puts a stable spin on one of its most unconventional, and popular, blade models.

Over the last few years, PXG have emerged not just as the makers of some of the best, most underrated putters in the game, but a brand surprisingly nimble at quickly jumping on the biggest trends in equipment.

The American brand's entry into the zero-torque putter game is perhaps the perfect illustration of this. PXG is now firmly ensconced as one of the industry's most prolific ZT putter manufacturers, and already have a stable of zero torque putters we absolutely love, from the bladed Hellcat ZT to the mallet Bat Attack ZT.

But if there were any doubts that PXG, a brand traditionally known for its irons and woods, had the diversity of product to truly shine in the sector, its latest release proves it has plenty of fresh ideas in the tank.

The Mustang ZT is based on one of PXG's most distinctive putter models. A less conventional blade instantly recognisable for its huge wings, it provides a unique look at address while the heel and toe ballasts provide both stability and an extra alignment tool (the gap between the bottom of each wings is the width of a golf ball.

Rather than awkwardly shoving a centre shaft on the model, PXG have taken the same approach to making the Mustang zero torque as they did with the Hellcat blade. The S-hosel of the Mustang ZT leans in towards the putter's centre before curving back to finish at its heel, creating a natural toe up balance point that remains perfectly stable and resists twisting.

The Mustang also gets the same outfit of tech as the brand's other ZT models. The pyramid-milled face is, as PXG very much like to boast about, the thinnest in golf, and backed up by an S-COR polymer insert that dampens vibration and provides a neat, pure sound at contact.

It also has adjustable heel and toe weights that can be swapped out the fine tune the putter's balance even further.

“With the Mustang ZT, we’re expanding the Zero Torque lineup to give golfers even more options that fit the way they play,” - PXG Founder and CEO Bob Parsons.

Priced at £429, the Mustang ZT instantly sits at the very upper end of what you'd expect to pay for a blade putter of any sort. Given the company's growing rep for making seriously good putters and already well-established renown for build quality, we're confident in predicting it'll prove well worth the investment.

The PXG Mustang ZT is available now through PXG and other retailers.
