With its trademark massaging inner soles and clean looks, G/FORE's G.112 is one of the most innovative casual golf sneakers around. But does it justify the £190 price tag?

Forever treading the line between on and off-course styling, G/FORE are experts at designing cutting-edge footwear and apparel that blurs the lines on what we traditionally expect from a golf brand.

Famous for bold prints, adventurous slogans and excellent quality, the brand has quickly become a beacon for modern golf design. G/FORE constantly seems to want to push the boundaries of golf apparel and footwear, and we're fully for it. However interestingly, the brand's latest release, an update to the G.112 golf sneaker, might be its safest yet.

With the new G.112, G/FORE has once again tweaked the classic tennis shoe silhouette in order to bring it up to date with the needs of the modern player. However while the previous model pushed its looks into avant gard territory with a wraparound spikey outsole, the new version is slightly more conservative and endlessly more wearable for everyday players.

Looks aside, however, these are a golf shoe. And like them or not, if they're no good on the course, they're no good to us either. As such, we slipped them on and headed out for 18 holes to see how they stack up against the best golf sneakers (and best spikeless golf shoes) on the market.

Looks

While the previous G/FORE G.112 golf shoes divided opinion, this new update plays things a lot safer.

As previously mentioned, the shoes have quite a classic trainer silhouette upon first glance, but look a little closer, and there are not-so-subtle design details that really set it apart from anything you could consider traditional.

The most obvious of these, of course, is the midsole that juts out the back of the shoe to create a more angular effect. This is definitely G/FORE flexing its muscles as a golf brand with true high fashion heritage, with the brand taking the platform of a classic shoe and taking it in a direction clearly inspired by luxury fashion brands. As ever, the finishing and build quality is top class, with G/FORE opting to use a PU leather upper that's soft to the touch, easy to clean and requires very little breaking in.

The rest of the shoe looks fantastic, and this is easily a shoe you could pull on pretty much everyday without issue. While there are a number of different colours to choose from, we tested out an understated that could easily be paired with any number of different outfit combinations. If you like to be a little louder on the course, though, in typical G/FORE style, there is an array of vivid colours to choose from.

Performance

While G/FORE is a fashion brand in spirit those familiar with their output know that the real benefit of its shoes come in their comfort and performance. The G.112s are no exception, the headline feature of course being, once again, the massaging inner soles, which remain something of a revelation.

The knobbly texture of the inner soles is immediately noticeable and is all the more impressive for how it lasts an entire round despite walking the whole way carrying a heavy golf bag. They do a fantastic job keeping your feet feeling fresh at points in the round where other low-drop shoes would start to become wearisome, and I'm yet to try a casual-style golf sneaker as comfortable as these.

I did, however, stumble upon an issue with the G.112 while walking around. While G/FORE's other shoes, the MG4 O2+ and Gallivan2r, layer their inner soles over a bed of springy auxetic foam, the G.112 is far more minimalist in its cushioning, leaving the inner sole to bear most of the burden taking the weight off your feet and delivering a firmer ride.

While this low-drop design also keeps you close to the ground and provides an excellent level of stability throughout the golf swing, it does make the sensation of the inner soles noticeably harsher than in other G/FORE shoes. For me, this actually manifested in a couple of pressure points in my heels, which grew to be pretty uncomfortable after a long day of walking and actually left some light bruising the day after.

Given I've never seen this mentioned in other reviews before, however, I suspect this might be a *me* problem, but it's something to bear in mind.

Outside of this, the cushioned heel also fits really well, hugging your foot with ample padding so as not to rub or feel too tight. Towards the toe region, there was ample space, and the shoes also provide a adecent amount of arch support. During the swing, we didn't notice any sliding around, with the upper providing a sturdy, locked-in feel.

In terms of performance, the shoes came up trumps. The revised spikeless outsole provided excellent traction on a dewy spring morning, although as with any other low-profile spikeless shoe, we'd probably recommend opting for something sturdier if you're regularly playing in muddy conditions.

G/FORE have made some welcome revisions to the G.112 for 2026, updating the package to present as a far more wearable shoe while retaining its unique blend of luxury, practicality and comfort.

The massaging inner soles remain one of the best innovations in recent golf shoe history, and the G/FOREs' modern styling and fantastic build quality make them a pair of golf sneakers that will keep your feet dry and comfortable, whatever the weather.

At £190, these shoes are closer to the top end of the price scale given the amount of real tech on offer, but if like the look of them and want a pair of modern golf shoes that deliver in terms of both aesthetics and performance, you'll find these more than a worthy investment.
