"It is Europe's Augusta!": Pablo Larrazabal reveals favourite course to Callaway

Pablo Larrazabal revealed that if he was given just one more tournament to win, it would be at the Andalucia Masters at Valderrama.

Talking to Zane Scotland and Callaway's Seamus Sweeney on the latest episode of the Callaway Range Pass show, the Spaniard discussed his European Tour career, his time with Callaway and his love of Valderrama.

This is Larrazabal's 10th season in partnership with Callaway and this has helped him become a five-time winner on the European Tour.

The 38-year-old spoke of his love of Valderrama, the host of last week's Andalucia Masters, and he described the famous venue as "Europe's Augusta."

"Valderrama is Europe's Augusta, everything is perfect, everything is on point. It’s not a long golf course but it is a trickier golf course than the other ones we play on tour," said Larrazabal.

“It’s the one that if you don’t hit the ball well, you have to have imagination from under the trees and it is my favourite golf course. It is the one where I dream to win. If someone tells me that I only have one more win on tour, I would not pick a bigger tournament than Valderrama.

“I don’t like to win trophies for the money they give me, I like to win trophies where the history is made and Valderrama is one. The winner’s that Valderrama has through the years from Monty to Graeme McDowell, Sergio, Seve, Ole, Tiger Woods won there.

“Everyone that wins there is a world-class player and there is nothing I would love more than winning at Valderrama."

Unfortunately for Larrazabal, he could only manage a finish for tied 20th which was where he also finished at the Acciona Open de España.

His last victory on the European Tour came at the Alfred Dunhill Championship in 2019, finishing one shot ahead of Joel Sjoholm.

Away from golf, Larrazabal is a big Barcelona football fan and he gave his views on the sticky situation that the famous team finds itself in.

"I am a friend of the president, I told him that I am available at any time!" Larrazabal joked.

"If I'm not playing golf, I can be playing for Barcelona! My legs are still strong enough for around 20 or 25 minutes!"
