Brandon Matthews may have missed the cut at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship, but he provided one of the highlights of the week on the 18th hole in round two.

It is not only PGA Tour players and LIV Golf rebels who can bomb their drives miles. The players on the Korn Ferry Tour can turn into monsters themselves.

Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau and Dustin Johnson are some of the most thunderous players in the world, but one player on the Korn Ferry Tour whipped up a storm earlier this week.

Playing in the Korn Ferry Tour Championship, Brandon Matthews needed a heroic finish on the 18th hole in the second round to make the cut which was 2-under-par.

Although the final hole at Victoria National Golf Club is a 432-yard dogleg par-4, Matthews took his driver out and instead of playing to the fairway on the left, he took dead aim over the green.

He had to carry the large lake in front of the green, a 370-yard flight to the putting surface. The 28-year-old didn't hold back and he reached the green.

Unfortunately, he could only make a birdie and not the eagle he needed to reach the cut. He carded rounds of 71 and 72 in Indiana.

"Not directly at it - that’s a little crazy. Our line was - there are some red umbrellas on the clubhouse that we saw. That was kind of our line if we had any bit of help at all," Matthews said.

"If I wasn’t in that position, I wouldn’t be hitting driver at the green - I love doing stuff like that. It’s fun."

He may have faced disappointment this week, but Matthews has already earned his first PGA Tour card. He came in the top 25 of the Regular Season Eligibility Points List ahead of the season-ending finale this week.

We look forward to seeing Matthews and his huge-hitting exploits at the Fortinet Championship in September. It will be his debut on Tour as a member.
