Pablo Larrazabal has revealed he woke up precisely 38 minutes before his opening tee-time at the Indian Open on Thursday, before going on to shoot a very respectable 5-under 67.

Larrazabal, 34, explained how he had just bought a new phone and it had reverted back to Spanish time overnight, meaning his alarm didn't go off in time.

Once awake, the four-time European Tour winner had a ''10-second shower,'' a wild car ride through the streets of Delhi, and hit just 10 balls on the range before dashing to his first hole, the 10th.

But with adrenaline pumping through his body, the in-form Spaniard rolled home nine birdies along with two bogeys and a double to shoot 67.

''Waking up this morning, I didn't think I was going to make it,'' Larrazabal said. ''Delhi's traffic is quite tough. I got lucky that we didn't have traffic.''

As things currently stand on day two of the tournament, Larrazabal is lying five strokes behind Emiliano Grillo in second heading into the weekend.
