Rory McIlroy and wife Erica Stoll rumour confirmed as move date is set
Rory McIlroy and his wife Erica will be able to move in to their luxury new house at Wentworth Estate in England with their daughter Poppy after the U.S. Open in June.
Rory McIlroy and his wife Erica Stoll will reportedly be able to move in to their luxury new mansion on Wentworth Estate with their young daughter Poppy following the conclusion of the U.S. Open, according to Telegraph Sport.
McIlroy, 36, confirmed ahead of his title defence at this week's $20m Truist Championship that he jetted over to Wentworth Club in Virginia Water, England, with his family a day after completing the career grand slam at The Masters last month.
The Northern Irishman wanted to keep himself out of the spotlight in the days after entering the record books at Augusta National, so he chose to visit the home of the BMW PGA Championship on the DP World Tour so he could see the final stages of his family's Wentworth house being built.
A few days later, the PGA Tour superstar then headed back to his roots in Northern Ireland to see his parents, Rosie and Gerry, who were not able to be there in Georgia to celebrate his historic Masters triumph.
"Straight after Augusta we travelled over to see the house as it was going through the finishing touches," McIlroy told Telegraph Sport.
"It was fun to see and we could have stayed in it, but we wanted to get over to Holywood [his home town in Belfast]."
McIlroy currently lives in a luxury mansion in South Florida with his wife Erica Stoll and their four-year-old daughter Poppy.
The Northern Irishman bought that property off four-time major champion Ernie Els in 2017, the same year McIlroy got married to wife Erica.
Golf legend Els, 55, used to also own a property with his family on the Wentworth Estate and so he has been able to give the five-time major champion lots of useful information and advice over the move.
According to Telegraph Sport, the house the McIlroy's have been building for a while is nearing completion and a move-in date has been set for the week after the U.S. Open at Oakmont.
Their move-in date is set for Monday 16 June.
It's been something of a whirlwind 12 months for both Rory and Erica given this time last year they were going through a divorce.
But they worked things out and called it off.
When McIlroy won a sixth Race to Dubai at the end of 2024, he paid tribute to the support of both Erica and Poppy, as well as his best pal and caddie Harry Diamond.
Telegraph Sport had already revealed in 2023 how the McIlroy's had purchased a plot of land on the exclusive Surrey estate, which is also the long-standing home of the European Tour, which is now the DP World Tour.
It is likely they will retain their property in South Florida so that McIlroy can base himself there during PGA Tour events and also take part in the second season of TGL, his tech-infused indoor golf league that launched in partnership with Tiger Woods this season.
Telegraph Sport understands the McIlroy's could soon make the switch to Wentworth permanent.
McIlroy finds himself five shots off the pace heading into the weekend of his title defence at the Truist Championship on the PGA Tour.
After a second-round 67, McIlroy told the media his game once again felt 'scrappy' but that he is eager to get things in shape with two more competitive rounds left to play before next week's PGA Championship.
He also concluded he is in a much better headspace ever since stepping away from the board of directors on the PGA Tour at the end of last season.
McIlroy openly admitted he has "no idea what's going on" in regards the future of the PGA Tour, and neither does he care right now.
Earlier this week McIlroy revealed he will be "much better to be around" for his family when it comes to next week's PGA Championship as a direct result of him having now won The Masters and completed the career grand slam.
