Haydn Porteous captured his second European Tour title with victory at the Czech Masters at Albatross Golf Resort.

Porteous, 23, started the final day two strokes behind playing partner Lee Slattery but his closing round of 69 was enough to run out a two-shot victory over the Englishman.

The South African had picked up just four top-10 finishes on Tour since last winning at the Joburg Open in January 2016 and had missed 14 cuts in 16 tournaments at the turn of 2016.

"It's been a really torrid time the last eight months," said Porteous, who will now move into the world's top 200 and into the top 60 in the Race to Dubai.

"I've been doing the right things and surely but surely it's been getting better."

Porteous raced out the blocks on Sunday with consecutive birdies before impressively making bogey at the fourth when sending his tee shot out of bounds.

He bounced superbly with birdies at six and nine before handing them back with consecutive bogeys at 10 and 11 to fall one shot behind.

But birdies at 14 and an exceptional birdie at the signature par-3 16th when firing his ball to within inches of the cup was enough to take command of the tournament.

Slattey, whose wife is currently expecting the birth of their second child, found himself one shot down up the last but over shot the green with his approach and could only muster a bogey-five to hand Porteous the title.

England's Tom Lewis posted a low-round-of-the-day 67 to finish tied third with Sweden's Pontus Widegren.
