On the eve of this week's WGC Match Play, defending champion Bubba Watson admitted he wanted to scrap the event from the PGA Tour schedule simply because he feels the format doesn't fit his game. It's fair to say he probably hasn't changed his view after his round one match against Kevin Na on Wednesday.
After seeing his 2 up lead around the turn vanish as quickly as the 15th, Watson and Na stood A/S on the 18th.
Watson ripped his drive some 360 yards and nearly found the green only for his ball to trickle back down the slope and into the greenside bunker.
Na sent his approach shot into 12-feet, leaving the door ajar for the two-time Masters champion to make birdie and win the match.
But that's where the beauty of matchplay came into full effect as Watson struck his bunker shot heavy and his ball rolled back into a worse lie in the sand.
Another swipe followed and Watson had seen enough as he scooped up his yellow Pro V1 and conceded to hand Na the victory.
