LIV Golf aims to provide its players and spectators with an experience in professional golf that has never been seen before. In some respects, they have accomplished this.

From shotgun starts to 54-hole events, golf fans have been asked to adapt to a completely new structure of watching a golf tournament. At the events in Portland, Bedminster and Boston, the crowds have been raucous and exciteable.

From commissioner Greg Norman handing out free beers to a number of world-famous music artists performing after each event, LIV Golf is trying to appeal to a new demographic.

As pointed out by Sean Zak on social media, LIV has come up with a new strategy to engage with spectators by basing a charitable initiative around their most significant recruit: Cameron Smith.

Having just won The 150th Open Championship at St Andrews, Smith was arguably the first player to sign for the Saudi-backed series while at the peak of his powers and ranked second in the world.

The controversial new tour has set up a stand that is giving out free haircuts but with one condition. For each person who gets their hair cut into a mullet, LIV to Give will donate $1,000 to charity.

At the start of June, LIV to Give was launched to support social and environmental efforts in the communities in each of the host cities on the circuit.

$100 million was pledged to support programmes based on education, environmental sustainability, golf development and community well-being.

Smith, 29, made the mullet a trademark look on the PGA Tour and LIV Golf has embraced this. He is set to tee it up for the second time at the Chicago Invitational having finished tied fourth in Boston two weeks ago.
