Will Zach Johnson take Bryson DeChambeau to Ryder Cup with his HOT NEW…

Bryson DeChambeau well and truly threw his hat into the ring for one of Zach Johnson's six captain picks in the US Ryder Cup team after firing LIV Golf's first-ever round of 58 en route to victory at LIV Golf Greenbrier on Sunday.

Jim Furyk is the only player to have shot a round of 58 over on the PGA Tour in the final round of the 2016 Travelers Championship.

DeChambeau incredibly shot 21-under par on the weekend at the Greenbrier for a 23-under par total.

The key ingredient for DeChambeau shooting 58 in the final round at White Suplur Springs in West Virginia was his brand new driver and a hot putter.

DeChambeau told reporters after his equally impressive second-round 61 that his new Krank Golf Formula Fire Driver is currently performing as "the best I've ever had in the past five years in professional golf for me."

The big-hitting American admits the performance of his driver has given him so much confidence right now that it has allowed him to spend less time grinding out on the range.

Bobby Bradley, who spends a lot of time with DeChambeau, told GolfMagic today:

"Bryson is cruising at 187-188mph ball speed with the driver and centre-punching them with little effort."

DeChambeau said:

"Ever since I put this driver into play, it’s not been really my golf swing.
"It’s just hit on the toe, hit on the heel, everything comes back down the middle of the fairway, and I’m like, all right, let’s go, pick up the tee and let’s go.
"The driver has been really nice. It’s allowed me to have some time to myself after rounds instead of going and working my butt off all the time."

According to Krank Golf's latest advert for the Formula Fire Driver, it can "add 25 to 40 more yards" to a player's distance.

One golf fan took to Twitter to ask given the hot performance of the Krank driver whether it was indeed 'legal' to use on Tour.

The Pro version of the Krank driver, which is used by DeChambeau, is indeed on the USGA Driver Conforming List

The X and XX versions of their driver, however, are only for recreational play.

DeChambeau was seen dropping a number of bombs long and straight all week at LIV Golf Greenbrier.

He was equally impressive on the greens with his SIK Pro C-Series Armlock putter helping him roll in 13 birdies in the final round.

Will Bryson DeChambeau receive one of Zach Johnson's US Ryder Cup picks?

Will Zach Johnson take Bryson DeChambeau to Ryder Cup with his HOT NEW DRIVER?!

DeChambeau's unbelievable rounds of 61 and 58 on the weekend - and his words of confidence where his new driver is concerned - will certainly not have gone unnoticed by 2023 US Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson.

Bryson contributed significantly for the stars and stripes last time out in USA's record victory over Europe at Whistling Straits.

Johnson will name his six captain's picks after the Tour Championship on the PGA Tour at the end of the month.

DeChambeau is likely still an outside shot for a pick but given his current play he has more than thrown his hat back into the ring for a pick.

He's given Johnson a headache for sure.

You could argue there are 15-20 players in with a shout of earning Johnson's six captain's picks right now on both the PGA Tour and LIV Golf.

Many golf fans believe Johnson will only select one LIV Golf player in his team to face Europe at Marco Simone in Rome at the end of September.

That player is Koepka, who landed his fifth major title with a US PGA hat-trick earlier this season.

LIV Golf players are currently eligible to compete in the Ryder Cup as it stands.

The story is a little different on the European side, however, which has not sat well with Jon Rahm who desperately wants one LIV Golf pro "even if he was missing a leg"
