Lexi Thompson gave a cold response to a reporter who asked her to talk through her third shot to the par-5 18th in the day one fourballs at the Solheim Cup.

Thompson faced a third shot in the rough just above the bunker but went on to shank it, and it ultimately cost her side the match losing 1 down to Georgia Hall and Leona Maguire.

Facing the media alongside the rest of Stacy Lewis' Team USA, a reporter asked Thompson to discuss what happened on 18.

The reporter said:

"Lexi, could you talk about the third shot at 18. There was some question on what you were trying to do and what you actually did do on the third shot, could you just go through it for us?"

Lewis is heard in the background saying "what a terrible question".

Thompson replied:

"I don't need to comment on that."

The reporter came back with:

"Excuse me?!"

Thompson added:

"I don't need to comment on the chip. It was a bad lie. I didn't hit a good chip, it was pretty much impossible, so...

The reporter finished:

"Okay, thank you."

Despite that blip at 18, Thompson did earn a point alongside Megan Khang in the morning foursomes.

Team USA led by 5-3 on day one, and the score is now 7-5 in their favour following a shared Saturday morning foursomes session.

Thompson won another point for her team in that session with a narrow 1up victory over Maguire and Anna Nordqvist again alongside Khang.
