Australia's Marcus Fraser was handed the Malaysian Open after a dramatic late collapse from South Korea's Soomin Lee.

With a two-shot lead with three holes to play, Lee, who held a three-shot lead heading into the final round, finished double-bogey, par, double-bogey to hand Fraser his third European Tour title and first in five years.

"In the back of my head I felt like I had a chance," said Fraser, who carded a bogey-free 68 to finish on 15 under par at Royal Selangor GC

"He's quite young and it's a big thing to be leading a European Tour event with three or four holes to go.

"So I just tried to keep reminding myself to breathe and to play my own game and see what I could do.

"The last two putts were pretty unbelievable. I was pretty nervous on 17 and I don't know how I held onto the putter, just trying to stand over that one on the last, I was pretty nervous."

After missing two of his last three cuts heading to Malaysia, a welcome trip home for practice seemingly made all the difference to Fraser.

"I got to the Middle East and I think it was the three worst weeks of golf I've played in my career," he added.

"I had some good practice when I went home, went back to absolute basics and tried to sort things out from the start and everything just fell into place as the week went on.

"A lot of putts found their way into the hole over the weekend and it was definitely my week."

The TaylorMade staff player relied on his new M1 driver, M1 fairway woods, RSi irons and Tour Preferred X ball.

Fraser ranked third in driving accuracy with a stellar 75% and first in putts per round with an average of 26.
