Shockwave out to make an impact

Renowned for the clubs with which Padraig Harrington has achieved three major titles, Wilson Golf is introducing its lightest-ever driver. The Wilson Staff Shockwave aims to give golfers greater swing speed and deliver more power and distance.

The Shockwave - which succeeds the Wilson Staff Smooth and Wilson Staff Spine - claims to be 10 per-cent lighter (265 grams) than standard drivers with the biggest saving coming from the ultra-light 50 gram UST Mamiya shaft made from a low-density compound and with a lightweight grip. The only weight addition is a 5 gram tungsten screw designed to reposition the centre of gravity for a higher ball flight.

“The result is that the Shockwave punches well above its weight time and again,” says Doug Wright, business director of Wilson in Europe.
The Wilson Staff Shockwave driver is available in 10.5 and 12 (HL) degree lofts with a recommended price of £199.99.
