What's in the bag: Atwal & Hanson

Arjun Atwal's victory in the Wyndham Championship at the weekend marked the first time in 24 years that a player who had qualified on the Monday before an event, had gone on to win. Much of the credit must also go to the new set of Ping S56 irons that Atwal picked up just before qualifying.

Meanwhile, TaylorMade-adidas staff pro Peter Hanson virtually secured a spot on the European Ryder Cup team by winning the Czech Open playing a TaylorMade Burner SuperFast driver and using the TM Penta TP ball.

"I put new irons in the bag," said Indian Atwal, who has won in Europe and on the Nationwide Tour. "I never practised with them and my first round of golf with them was in the qualifier. So you can see I'm really happy the way it worked out."

Atwal had to Monday qualify after suffering from shoulder injuries and losing his PGA Tour card last month. He also needed some sort of change to kick-start his game and said he put the Ping irons (the same model used by Louis Oosthuizen to win The Open at St Andrews) in his bag because 'I just felt like it.'

Since being introduced in mid-summer, the S56 irons have racked up five worldwide wins.
