Golf pro arrested on child pornography charges

A MIDLANDS golf club professional has been arrested on suspicion of downloading indecent images of children, it has emerged.

Guy Dean, 43, had worked as a golf professional at clubs in Worcestershire, Staffordshire and the West Midlands before his arrest in April.

Dean, from Bloxwich in Walsall, resigned from his post at Penn Golf Club in Wolverhampton, where he had been working since 2005, in April when the allegations came to light.

“There’s nothing I can say yet really as the investigation is ongoing. That’s the situation in which I find myself," said Dean.

“I’ve helped with police inquiries. It’s very delicate at the moment. I have told them everything that I know.”

Dean had previously worked at Beau Desert Golf Club in Cannock, South Staffordshire Golf Club, Dartmouth Golf Club in West Bromwich, Dudley Golf Club in Rowley Regis and Fishley Park Golf Club in Pelsall in a career that started in 1986.

A Staffordshire Police spokeswoman said: “A 43-year-old man from Bloxwich was arrested in April on suspicion of possession of, and making, indecent images of children.

“He has been bailed, pending further inquiries, to a date in September.”
