Golf fans react to Jordan Spieth par save after WILD DRIVE on 13th hole
Some fans weren't too happy with the free drop that Jordan Spieth was able to take at the 13th hole on Wednesday.
Jordan Spieth got off to a brilliant start at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play with a 3&1 victory over Matt Fitzpatrick, but the 13th hole seemed to cause some controversy on social media.
Fitzpatrick poses the biggest threat to Spieth in qualifying for the knockout rounds of the WGC Match Play, but the former World No.1 played some fantastic golf to beat the Englishman, who has been very impressive on the PGA Tour as of late.
The 13th hole at Austin Country Club is a short par-4 across water, where many players try to reach the green, which is exactly what Spieth attempted on Wednesday.
It certainly wasn't Spieth's best drive of the day and it looked much worse after taking a huge bounce off of the cart path, where it eventually landed on the 15th green and rolled across Patrick Cantlay, who was attempting to hole his putt.
Due to where the ball originally landed, Spieth was able to take a free drop close to the stands, which was about 50 yards away from where it came to rest.

Spieth ended up making a par and tied the hole with Fitzpatrick and although his drive ended up way off target, Spieth said his strategy is unlikely to change at the 13th hole.
"To that back left pin it's a no-brainer, you hit driver up there and you have a 50 to 60-yard pitch right up the green, and that wedge shot is just so difficult to the back left pin," said Spieth after beating Fitzpatrick.
"No matter where it goes there, you have 80 yards of room, as long as it doesn't toe-drop in the water, any other position is fine. When it hit the cart path it just makes it look crazier, but in reality you're going to drop in the same place, no matter where you hit it. I don't see that strategy changing for me. It was just kind of annoying to have to walk an extra 50 yards to get my ball."
It was a crucial victory for Spieth, as he looks to capitalise on his winning start when he takes on Matthew Wolff in his second match of the tournament, but not everyone was pleased with the way the 13th hole went down.
