Aimed at the better player looking to 'work the ball'

New Ci9 irons boost for Wilson

Golfers in the 'better player' category to which, presumably, we all aspire will have their senses heightened by the arrival of the latest generation of 'control irons from Wilson Staff. The Ci9, says the company which provides irons and woods for Padraig Harrington, 'combines maximum playability with classic looks and workability.'

Wilson is confident the Ci9 irons will appeal to a wide variety of golfers thanks to a traditional mid-size head with a design that 'boosts confidence at address provides many of the visual characteristics expected by better golfers, such as a thinner top line and a moderately progressive offset.'

The clubs are made from soft 431 stainless steel and include a one-piece 'soft response insert' that extends across the iron cavity to create more feel and a solid sound at impact even from miss-hits. Modified U-grooves push the maximum limits of the new specifications required by the USGA and R&A, while a higher centre of gravity delivers a higher spin rate.

Wilson engineers claim a hidden rear cavity 'Exoskeleton' disperses weight  mass to the heel and toe for improved stability at impact.

The new Ci9 irons are available with stock lightweight FST stepless steel shafts or Aldila VS ProtoByYou graphite shafts and are available in 4-iron to PW sets priced at £379.99 for steel and £449.99 for graphite.
