Dustin Johnson won two of the final three holes to share the spoils with Robert MacIntyre in what was one of the most entertaining matches during the second day of the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.

It was a match-up that MacIntyre was relishing and he certainly didn't look out of place playing alongside the World No.1 and the Scot is disappointed he didn't take his opportunity and beat the Masters champion.

Johnson won the 1st hole and MacIntyre levelled the score by winning the 2nd, but the American regained his advantage at the 3rd hole with a birdie.

The match took a turn when MacIntyre won three holes in a row starting at the 9th to go 2-up against the current best golfer on the planet and Johnson's win at the 12th hole was quickly cancelled out when MacIntyre made a birdie at 14.

Johnson refused to go down without a fight and a stunning eagle at the par-5 16th pulled him within one and he followed up with a birdie at the par-3 17th to make the score all square heading down the last.

Both players left themselves with a decent roll for birdie, but neither could take it and the match between the World No.1 and No.44 ended all square.

"Dustin holed putts when he had to hole putts," said MacIntyre. "He does that to win numerous majors. I'm young. I've got plenty of time ahead of me. Obviously, I was dying to win that match, and I was in such a great position to do it.

"But he threw everything at me, and I can be proud of finishing there all square, but obviously inside I'm a little disappointed not to win. But once we walk away from here and get in the car and drive back to the house, it's going to be, you know what, I can compete with these best guys on the planet."
