Patrick Cantlay has had an interesting week.

He was accused of playing too slowly at The Masters, but decided to point the finger at everyone else apart from himself

Then during the RBC Heritage - the designated PGA Tour event with a $20m prize purse - he made a hole-in-one.

He provided an understated reaction and just about managed to crack a smile and a few high-fives. Then he trolled himself

This also happened to Cantlay during the second round at Hilton Head. It was a relatable golf moment. We have all been there.

Cantlay chunked a short chip straight into a tree.

Watch here:

So what happened?

Cantlay was playing the 184-yard par-3 14th at Harbour Town Golf Links and double-crossed his tee shot into the trees.

His golf ball settled behind one in a waste bunker and he had approximately 25 yards to the hole. Tough shot, and also water to think about.

The announcer explained:

"Cantlay is going to try to chisel away at this one. He also has to worry about the water beyond the green. There's a lot of factors here."

Analyst Andres Gonzales noted that Cantlay wasn't too worried about the water, but just wanted to try and get the ball a little bit closer.

Then Cantlay played his shot and... straight into the tree.

Though the difference here may be the fact that Cantlay didn't drop any expletives. Cantlay is not Jon Rahm.

It was an understated reaction, though it has to be said Cantlay's nickname is Patty Ice such is his demeanor.

Cantlay did recover and eventually posted a second round 65 to be firmly within the mix come moving day

He is searching for his ninth PGA Tour title.
