Rory McIlroy and Ian Poulter set to face off as WGC Match Play groups revealed
We are set for some exciting face-offs when the WGC-Dell Match Play gets underway on Wednesday.
Ryder Cup teammates and friends Rory McIlroy and Ian Poulter will go head-to-head this week at Austin Country Club in one of the many exciting groups that have been drawn for the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.
A star-studded field takes to the stage, with 64 of the world's top 69 all committing to the event to showcase a sensational week for golf fans in one of the most entertaining tournaments of the season.
The action starts on Wednesday where players will play against each other in their group of four players, with the 16 winners of each group heading to the knockout stages over the weekend.
Kevin Kisner is currently the defending champion, having beaten Matt Kuchar in the final in 2019 and last year's event was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.
McIlroy and Poulter, two players who thrive in match play situations, will face each other in group 11, which also includes Australian Cameron Smith and American Lanto Griffin.
