Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth are among a group of high-profile investors in the PGA Tour's new 'Official Virtual Reality Golf Game' brought to them by GOLF+.

The agreement also sees the creation of the PGA Tour game experiences where players can experience exclusive content and features of real-world tournaments and venues.

GOLF+ players can use Meta Quest VR headsets to compete on TPC Network golf courses and other courses beginning with TPC Scottsdale (WM Phoenix Open) and TPC Sawgrass (The Players Championship).

More tournament golf courses will be added in the future to join the impressive line-up that GOLF+ already offers. McIlroy, Spieth, two-time major champion Ben Crenshaw, NBA star Steph Curry and NFL icon Tom Brady are among the investors of GOLF+.

The VR game is designed to remove restraints in golf such as green fees and bad weather which allows players to play in a stress-free way and practise at their own pace.

"Beyond providing one of the best VR sports experiences in the world, GOLF+ will now offer a new way for fans to enjoy the excitement of the PGA Tour," said McIlroy.

"This technology has the power to not only bring new people to the game of golf but also evolve the way the PGA Tour is seen and experienced by golfers and gamers everywhere."

The Northern Irishman has made his interest in the off-course, interactive experience of golf clear in 2022. He and Tiger Woods previously announced TGL, a new tech-infused golf league in partnership with the Tour.

"When I was a kid, I always dreamed of making it to the PGA Tour and testing my game inside the ropes against the best players in the world," Spieth added.

"It’s great that fans and future Tour pros are going to be able to use this platform to get a taste for what it’s like to compete on the PGA Tour."

GOLF+ is currently available on the Meta Quest 2 platform for $29.99. It comes with standard course designs, Topgolf and the Pro Putt mini golf course.
