From The Tips Episode 2: "Ian Poulter should've gone out with a Ryder Cup bang"

Did Ian Poulter go to LIV Golf too soon?

This was just one of the topics discussed in the second episode of GolfMagic's podcast From The Tips

Our first podcast saw us welcome DP World Tour pro Ewen Ferguson in which the Scot reacted to Billy Foster's comments about the European-based circuit being on the decline.

The second instalment of From The Tips also saw us welcome a rookie from the circuit in Ireland's John Murphy.

The Irishman spoke to presenter Harry Benjamin, our Editor Andy Roberts and Tour writer Matt Chivers about his career so far and Ryder Cup aspirations.

Murphy also dropped an hilarious story about meeting Tiger Woods and the "bad blood" the has emanated from the emergence of LIV Golf

On the topic of LIV, our Editor Andy Roberts had some strong opinions on whether or not the aforementioned Poulter joined the breakaway tour one year too soon.

Poulter has now said he may snub September's Ryder Cup altogether even if he were to automatically qualify.

Andy said:

"He took his money. He's gone to LIV Golf and, unfortunately, you can't have your cake and eat it Poults.
"Stenson was Ryder Cup captain. He got sacked and went to LIV Golf. Ryder Cup Europe are not messing around. [They're saying] you're either with us or you're not and that's essentially where we are.
"I still find it quite amazing. I said to the guys the other week -- that if Poulter genuinely believes he could get in this Ryder Cup team, genuinely believes that he's still got it at 47, why did he not go to LIV Golf next year?
"Why would he risk missing out on the Ryder Cup? What a way to go out. Go out with a bang in your Ryder Cup career. Go and win the Ryder Cup back for Europe on home soil. Go and do that and then go to LIV Golf.
"LIV Golf are desperate for players at the minute. I'm sure the door would have still been open for Poulter next year.
"He's risked the opportunity of never playing in the Ryder Cup [again], maybe never captaining in the Ryder Cup and I think it's a shame."
