Tour veteran slams PGA Tour over recent announcement
The PGA Tour recently announced college draft vision and one PGA professional was not impressed...
The old Q-school was a simple system that everyone understood and was happy with, yet since the unpopular decision to change it in 2014, it seems the PGA Tour has another whacky idea in the pipeline.
Back in the day of the old Q-school, the top 25 finishers over the six rounds of qualifying, plus the top 25 players on the Web.com Tour money list, would all qualify and earn their well-deserved PGA Tour cards for the upcoming season.
In 2014, the PGA Tour went completely against the saying 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' and decided to completely change the system, with players now having to fight it out at Q-school to earn Web.com Tour cards. The top 25 money winners on the Web.com Tour receive full status on the PGA Tour, plus the top 25 finishers in the new Web.com Tour Finals.
Although the PGA haven't released many details or timings of the proposed draft, they have been cracking at this idea for a few years now and have been in partnership talks with the Golf Coaches Association of America.
