WATCH: Doug Ghim's incredible reaction to securing his PGA Tour card

Qualifying for the PGA Tour is a lifechanging accomplishment for a professional golfer. In the Korn Ferry Tour Finals, the top 25 players earn their PGA Tour card for next season, meaning they have the opportunity to play for millions of dollars and seriously change their lives. Miss out on the top 25 and it's a tough pill to swallow, especially for those who may have dropped out of the top 25 in the final event.

Luckily, this article isn't about the pain and misfortune of those who didn't make the cut, but about an incredible moment for a young professional who made possibly the most important putt of his life to secure his spot on the PGA Tour next season.

Doug Ghim, a 23-year-old from outside of Chicago, graduated from the University of Texas in 2018 and this year played on the Korn Ferry Tour in his quest to make it to the PGA Tour.

Ghim had been playing soem brilliant golf during the Korn Ferry Tour Finals and during his final round, the young American bogeyed the 17th hole, meaning that he had to make a par or better on the last in order to get his PGA Tour card.

His tee shot on the final hole found the fairway, but Ghim then pulled his approach shot and found the rough, left of the green, adding some pressure to the youngster. Ghim's chip didn't quite have the legs it needed and stopped about 10 feet short of the pin, leaving Ghim with the biggest putt of his life so far.

“I have never felt nervous like that before and I’ve been in a lot of nervous situations,” Ghim said. “I [said] yesterday that the only way I’d be devastated is if I had a putt to make it [on the PGA Tour] and I didn’t make it. And that thought occurred when I got there.”

The pressure was mounting as Ghim stood over the ball, but watch below as he found the middle of the cup and he showed exactly what it means to him to now be a PGA Tour player.

“To have it all come down to one putt is pretty surreal,” Ghim said. “It’s one of those things where if you make the putt, it does wonders for you and if you miss it, it could go the opposite way. Now that I’ve finally made the putt it feels like I have the opportunity to make some noise on the big tour and I’m just really, really excited."
