Some of the most comfortable golf shoes we have ever worn; superb traction; nicely cushioned feel; 100% waterproof
Cons
We're too lost in the levels of comfort to even consider a con

THREE was very much the (Golf)magic number when we tried out the ECCO S-THREE golf shoes at Hoebridge Golf Club in Surrey.

Not only do these shoes as worn by the likes of Henrik Stenson and Erik van Rooyen go by the name of S-THREE, but it was three years ago to the month that I'd last worn a pair of ECCO shoes.

They've since been surpassed in our pick of the best golf shoes by the Under Armour HOVR Drive 2 golf shoes, but they're still amongst the most comfortable golf shoes I have ever worn.

ECCO S-THREE golf shoes - Key Features

Blending on-course performance with off-course style, the S-THREE shoes are what I consider to be some of the most comfortable shoes in golf.

This incredibly soft comfort is achieved by a direct injection innovation known as ZONAL FLUIDFORM TECHNOLOGY, which creates a moulded midsole with three distinct zones of softness to ensure the right balance of cushioning and stability exactly where you need it.

The heel of the midsole is engineered for medium softness to ensure the right amount of cushioning and comfort, while the central part of the midsole has higher levels of rigidity to deliver outstanding lateral stability throughout the swing.

Then the highest level of softness comes in the forefront of the midsole, aiding exceptional walking comfort.

On top of all this, you then have a double layer of neoprene in the collar and heel that provides increased padding for additional wearing comfort throughout the swing, while ECCO FLUIDFORM Direct Comfort Technology ensures a finely-tuned balance of cushioning and rebound.

Other positives are that they are highly breathable and comprise 100% waterproof GORE-TEX technology, which was perfect when the heavens opened on the back nine. The uppers of the S-THREE shoe are crafted from a thick ECCO SOFT CALF NAPPA leather, made in ECCO’s own tanneries.

ECCO S-THREE golf shoes - Performance

The traction on full shots was also superb, and also around the green when I needed to feel low to the ground on those delicate wedge shots and flop shots.

This is achieved with the brand's clever DYNAMIC TRACTION SYSTEM (E-DTS) outsole design that provides more than 100 traction bars and 800 traction angles for loads of grip where you need it most.

In terms of colour and style, which is very much a personal preference, the darkened grey look did not look out of place with a pair of navy trousers. I do typically prefer a white or black pair of shoes, as I find those colours easier to match with a choice of outfit.

Should you buy the ECCO S-THREE golf shoes?

A little pricey at £180, but as I say, these are some of the most comfortable golf shoes I have ever worn, so it very much depends how much comfort means to you on the golf course. The traction is superb and they are also 100% waterproof, perfect for unpredictable weather conditions.

I very much encourage you to check these shoes out - you will not be disappointed. I am too lost in the levels of comfort from this shoe to even consider a negative.
