FootJoy targets brand Grand Slam at the Open with bespoke Lytham designs
Limited edition styles from the No.1 Shoe in Golf
Having adorned the feet of Masters champion Bubba Watson and US Open winner Webb Simpson, FootJoy hopes to continue its quest for a Grand Slam at next week’s Open Championship.
And the self-branded No.1 Shoe in Golf has announced its brand ambassadors will be wearing specially-designed shoes at Royal Lytham & St Annes.
Five popular FJ styles have been commissioned to celebrate the return of golf’s oldest major to the famous Lancashire links following a ten year absence.
With red and white at the forefront of the identity of Lytham, FootJoy has utilised its state-of-the-art MyJoys programme to customise the flagship FJ Icon Traditional, Shield Tip and Asymmetrical models.
These three styles have been further complimented by red and white versions of the athletically-infused FJ Sport and the performance-packed XPS-1.
So far 15 FJ loyalists from the PGA Tour and nine from the European Tour have confirmed they will be wearing these Open Championship MyJoys and in-line styles. Watson, as well as World No.1 Luke Donald, continues to trust the Icons, while World No.2 Rory McIlroy will target his second major title in the Sport model.
“The majors provide us with a fantastic opportunity to showcase our product line-up,” says FootJoy’s European marketing manager Russell Laws, “and what better way to celebrate the Open Championship’s return to such a great English links than with these special designs?
“Our brand loyalists continue to thrive at the highest level of the game and I am confident we can add to the victories of Bubba and Webb and keep alive the goal of an FJ Grand Slam.”
