Odyssey seem to have taken inspiration from French fashion and have gone for an all-black appearance with the Odyssey Protype Black #2 putter. The company know how to make an attractive blade as they have shown with their previous blades. It looks very much like the Metal-X Metal #1 although the absence of an insert means the putter can maintain its black finish over the entire putter.

It was strange to hit a milled putter from Odyssey as I’m so used to their inserts and I didn’t know what to expect. Odyssey’s inserts are always soft and the same can be said of their milled clubs.
The carbon face produces a spectacular feel as it blends a soft feel with a huge amount of feedback. It’s one of the best feeling putting I have ever used and the ball rolls pure off the face.
I was also pleasantly surprised by the forgiving nature of the putter. Mishit strokes, particularly off the heel, still rolls well.
Verdict
A milled putter that looks fantastic and provides a superb feel.
