This is one of the most attractive putters on the market. From the top it looks like a classic blade, but the modifications bring this putter into 2013. The matt black finish reduces glare and makes the white alignment aid stand out as well as the white Odyssey logo on the back of the putter.
The face of the putter looks anything but traditional. A silver insert covers the majority of the face with a small Odyssey logo tucked in near the heel. It doesn’t look garish at all and maintains the putter’s elegant look.

The Urethane inner layer gives the putter a soft touch which is always expected from Odyssey inserts. The feel was a tad on the soft side for me as I would have preferred more feedback to help me judge distance. The ball rolled well off the face and I didn’t experience any skids or bounces.
A massive pro of this putter is the weight. It’s well balanced and it feels like the weight sits behind the putter. This promotes more of a push-like stroke which gets the ball rolling and allows you to produce a consistent stroke.
Verdict
The Metal-X #1 looks fantsastic, has a soft feel and is superbly weighted, promoting a true roll.
