Under Armour Charged Phantom Golf Shoe Review: "Extreme comfort, good value"

Need To Know

Fantastic levels of comfort; really nice fit and function about them with a molded EVA sockliner; strong traction on a range of different shots and lies; very light (could be a con for some); good value
Not the strongest waterproof protection; better looking golf shoes out there this season; better shoes for all-year round play
Our score:
PRICE: £100.00 YEAR: from 2023

The athletic-looking Under Armour Charged Phantom Golf Shoes offer extreme levels of comfort at a fantastic price point (£100 / $130) in 2023.

As a result, these new UA golf shoes are an easy addition into our Best Golf Shoes buyer guide this season.

There are more impressive golf shoes in sodden conditions out there on the golf course, but these Charged Phantom shoes certainly represent a great option for summer rounds of golf.

Let's take a closer look at them:

Under Armour Charged Phantom Golf Shoes - Looks

Straight out the box, the Under Armour Charged Phantom golf shoe screams athleticism, just as you would expect from a brand that is smashing it seemingly in every sport on the planet in 2023.

While its looks weren't our favourite of all the new golf shoes we've tested so far this season, it wasn't a complete turn off.

We tested these shoes out in a Harbor Blue / Black model, but they also come available in Black, White and Blue Mirage.

It very much has the look of a running shoe, so some traditionalists might turn their noses away, but for the younger and more athletic golfers among you it's more than likely going to offer plenty of appeal.

We really like its cool 'Bootie' design that gives you that sock-like fit and feel about it.

Under Armour Charged Phantom Golf Shoes - Comfort and Performance

Thankfully this is where the Under Armour Charged Phantom Golf Shoes really perform.

Straight out the box, we instantly appreciated the fit, form and function of these golf shoes from the moment we slipped them on.

These shoes fit perfectly thanks to the molded EVA sockliner, and within seconds, we began to experience fantastic levels of comfort. It felt like slipping our feet onto a bed of feathers in all honesty.

The shoes felt extremely light on our feet, which is always a benefit when you're out there for close to five hours.

When the rain chucked it down for a solid two hours on the golf course, these shoes did a fair job at protecting us, but if truth be told there are much better waterproof golf shoes out there this season such as the Under Armour HOVR Drive 2 golf shoes

Another impressive feature packed inside this shoe is Under Armour's 'Charged Cushioning' midsole foam that aids comfort as well as responsiveness and durability.

You've also got Under Armour's Rotational Resistance outsole on hand to give you the best possible traction on all shots out there on the course. Despite some fairly slippery and sodden conditions out there on the course midway through our round, we remained on our feet at all times.

We also noted these shoes wiped nice and clean after what was a muddy round of golf.

Overall, lots of comfort and solid all-round performance. We think they are best suited for summer golf though.

Should you buy the Under Armour Charged Phantom Golf Shoes?

Absolutely, if you're a fan of Under Armour golf shoes then these need to be towards the top of your list. If you are looking for a light, comfortable and athletic pair of golf shoes for the summer, these need some serious consideration. We were most blown away by the PUMA Ignite Elevate golf shoes this season when it comes to spikeless golf shoe models, but these Under Armour Charged Phantom shoes certainly run them close. We would also highly recommend the Under Armour HOVR Drive 2 golf shoes, which cost a little more but impress us greatly.
