Look

Clean and simple from the top. One black alignment line works well, while the white insert contrasts nicely with the silver face. It has a half shaft offset, which didn’t perturb us at address.

The blue on the underside spices it up a little, but overall it’s an understated aesthetic.

Performance

Off the face the White Hot RX #9 is incredibly soft, and emits a mellow, broad sound. The White Hot insert has been a leader in the market for 15 years, and the newest iteration is elevated to even loftier heights.

It is combined with a dual layer injection moulded insert, for maximum softness off the face. It’s a pleasure to hit, and will keep you on the practice green.

Even though it is soft, the amount of feedback provided is high. This makes judging distances easier whether that be from 10 or 50 feet.

A new oval pattern design is employed, the same that was used in the brand’s Metal-X and Works models, which gets the ball running end over end straight off the bad, and helps to eliminate skips and hops.

From close in, the flat stick is suited to the better putters among us. This toe-weighted putter is stable enough, but if does not have the perimeter weighting on offer as seen in other models. However, players can add an oversize Super Stroke grip, for an extra charge, for help on keeping the putter square through impact.

However, better players will enjoy the increased feel and control over the putter head, particularly on lag putts or when facing a stab from distance.

Verdict

Incredibly soft, but also offering a heap of feedback thanks to the new White Hot insert. We found it easy to judge distances with the Odyssey White Hot RX #9.

One for a better putter, as there isn’t a huge amount of help from close in, but maxes out the feel and control barometer.
