The best putters on the PGA Tour in 2026 and the putters they used

With another season on the PGA Tour coming to a close, it's time to take stock and look back at both the players and equipment who came to define the year in professional golf.

One defining trend of the 2026 season? The slow but ceaseless shift away from traditional putters continues apace, and with increasing uptake of more forgiving, higher MOI mallet putters as well as zero torque putters, it seems all but inevitable that old-school bladed putters will diminish further on tour as a result. 

But of all the best putters money can buy, which delivered the most on the greens for the world's best this year? 

We've already covered the drivers that delivered the most distance for tour players this year. Now it's the turn of the flat sticks, as we profile the 10 best putters on tour in terms of strokes gained on the greens, as well as the putters they used.

10. Eric Cole

Average strokes gained putting: 0.541

Putter used: PXG Battle Ready II Closer

Eric Cole has been one of the PGA Tour's short game kings this year, placing in the top 10 for strokes gained both around and on the greens. Cole's PXG Battle Ready II Closer, a blade model custom-built with a centre-shafted low torque profile, has been a dependable weapon over the season.

9. Jake Knapp

Average strokes gained putting: 0.597

Putter used: Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.2 Tour Prototype

While Jake Knapp's silky smooth swing is one of the most beloved on tour, putting was actually the American's one of key strengths this year. He putted with a high-MOI Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.2 Tour Prototype, and his performance on the greens went a long way to seeing him finish in the top 20 for total strokes gained in the regular season.

8. Robert Macintyre

Average strokes gained putting: 0.626

Putter used: Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.5R

It's been an average year for Bob MacIntyre, the fiery Scot picking up a handful of top 10s yet making the headlines more for blow-ups on bad rounds than good. Even so, he's been one of the Tour's most consistent putters this year, despite making a switch from his long-time favourite TaylorMade Spider into a new tour-only Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.5R.

7. Scottie Scheffler

Average strokes gained putting: 0.569

Putter used: TaylorMade Spider Tour X

Once again one of the PGA Tour's most consistent players this year from tee to green, the world number one enjoyed a particularly prosperous year on the greens where he ranked as the tour's 7th best putter overall. This was thanks in large part to the harmony he displayed with his L-neck TaylorMade Spider Tour X.

6. Beau Hossler

Average strokes gained putting: 0.571

Putter used: TaylorMade TP Collection Ardmore 3

The first and only inclusion for TaylorMade's TP collection golf on this list, the winged Ardmore shape cracked the top 10 in the hands of journeyman Beau Hossler. The American made one of the biggest jumps in the PGA Tour putting rankings this year, finishing in the top 10 for the first time, placing in the top 5 for total putting, and leading the tour outright in 3-putt avoidance.

5. Alex Noren

Average strokes gained putting: 0.620

Putter used: Odyssey O-Works #1W

Alex Noren was a top-five putter on tour for the early part of this season, dominating the greens with an old Odyssey model that's a bona fide classic. The putter in question comes in Odyssey's much-loved #1W shape, with the unique microhinge O-Works Insert. You can pick one of these up for little more than £100 if you look around, proving you don't need to spend a bag to get top-end performance.

4. Vince Whaley

Average strokes gained putting: 0.639

Driver used: Odyssey Ai-ONE #7

Vince Whaley was perhaps the single deadliest putter on tour this year, leading overall in one-putt percentage and ranking third overall in putts per round. In fact, his Odyssey AI-One had him in the tour's top 10 in pretty much every major putting metric aside from 3-putt avoidance.

3. Sam Burns

Average strokes gained putting: 0.662

Putter used: Odyssey Ai-One #7S

Last year's leading putter, Sam Burns once again finished the 2026 season in the medal places for strokes gained putting, despite not having a particularly stellar year in other advanced putting metrics. Even so, his top 10 world ranking just goes to show that he hit his putts at the right time.

2. Akshay Bhatia

Average strokes gained putting: 0.664

Putter used: Odyssey Jailbird 380

Proving you don't need the latest tech to putt lights out, Akshay Bhatia earned this year's putting silver medal with a broomstick version of the Odyssey Jailbird he's used for years.

1. Jacob Bridgeman

Average strokes gained putting: 0.684

Putter used: TaylorMade Spider Tour

Another victory for TaylorMade's most iconic putter, the Spider once again prevailed as the deadliest putter on tour this year in the hands of Jacob Bridgeman. Bridgeman finished the regular season as the Tour's best putter by some margin, leading the field in both strokes gained and total putting while placing top 10 in every major putting metric available. That's no mean feat.
