Justin Rose praises ‘inspiring’ young golfers after special Wentworth event at BMW PGA

Justin and Kate Rose welcomed a group of children with upper body limb differences to the BMW PGA community day at Wentworth on Tuesday, where the youngsters took part in a special golf competition supported by the Kate & Justin Rose Foundation (KJRF).

The children are beneficiaries of Sport for All UK, an initiative funded by the KJR Foundation that gives young people with upper body limb differences the opportunity to experience golf using 3D-printed prosthetics produced by Koalaa.

Several of the youngsters were invited to compete inside one of the Foundation’s Dryvebox mobile golf simulators, which are designed to bring golf to inner-city schools and communities across the UK.

Rose said he was proud to see the children using prosthetics funded through the Foundation and praised their attitude during the event.

“It was a privilege to meet all of the children today and it makes me proud to know we are helping to deliver experiences that will stay with them forever,” Rose said.

“I enjoyed seeing the children striking the ball using the prosthetics we have funded through our Foundation. Their passion, self-belief and support of one another was so inspiring.”

The former World No.1 also praised the youngsters for their performance inside the Dryvebox, describing the mobile simulator as “a lot of fun to play golf in”.

For Kate Rose, Chair of the Kate & Justin Rose Foundation, bringing the children to Wentworth was particularly meaningful.

“It was always a dream of ours to bring some of the children that our Foundation supports to Wentworth,” she said.

“It was fantastic to see their reaction when they saw the Dryvebox, and even more rewarding to see how well they played in it.”

The KJRF was established to provide disadvantaged young people across the UK with opportunities to experience the benefits of golf, with initiatives such as Sport for All UK helping to make the game more accessible.

The Wentworth event provided an opportunity for the young golfers to showcase their skills while meeting Justin and Kate Rose and experiencing the Foundation’s work first-hand.
