LIV Golf star David Puig has taken up full membership of the DP World Tour for the 2026 season after having played as an affiliate member in 2025.

Puig, 23, will now assume Category 10 membership of the DP World Tour in 2026, a DP World Tour spokesperson has confirmed to GolfMagic

The Fireballs man competed in five DP World Tour events this year and earned enough points via the non-members list with which to take up ranked membership of the former European Tour circuit next season.

Puig performed admirably in his quintet of DP World Tour appearances, chalking up four top-11 finishes and a T50 at the Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews.

As a result of being an affiliate member this season, a DP World Tour spokersperson has confirmed to GolfMagic that Puig did not receive any fines because he was not in ranked membership and therefore the conflicting tournament regulation rule was not applicable.

However, moving forwards into 2026, Puig will need to request releases to playing in conflicting events - just as is the case for all DP World Tour members who compete in LIV Golf events.

Puig represents Sergio Garcia's Fireballs on the LIV Golf League.

Puig first played for Fireballs GC in LIV Golf's inaugural event in June 2022 as an amateur.

After turning professional and playing for another team in 2023, he officially signed with and rejoined Fireballs GC for the 2024 season.

Puig racked up four top-10 finishes on the LIV Golf League in 2025.

The talented Spaniard is ranked 173rd in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR), but a more realistic 66th with Data Golf.

Puig has yet to register a win on LIV Golf or the DP World Tour, but he does have two Asian Tour titles to his name - International Series Singapore in October 2023 and Malaysian Open in February 2024.

Golf legend Garcia, the all-time record points scorer in Ryder Cup history, lost his DP World Tour membership for 2026 after having only played in two regular tournaments on the circuit in 2025.

Players must compete in at least four regular events on the DP World Tour schedule - not including the majors - in order to fulfil their membership for the following season.

Garcia spoke exclusively to GolfMagic last month where he openly discussed his exit from the DP World Tour and goals to still make the Ryder Cup team.

It is understood Garcia's Fireballs will remain unchanged in 2025.

The Fireballs comprise of Garcia (c), Puig, Abraham Ancer and Josele Ballester.

Garcia's troops won three LIV Golf League team titles in a row in Adelaide, Hong Kong and Singapore in 2025.
