Brooks Koepka: "I'm not going to answer that because I'm sure everybody will tear me apart"

Brooks Koepka refused to be drawn in to speculating whether he thinks he is the best LIV Golf player after his fifth victory on the breakaway tour.

Brooks Koepka refused to declare whether he thinks he's the best player in the LIV Golf League after he defeated Jon Rahm for his fifth title on the breakaway tour.

Koepka shot a 7-under 63 on Sunday at the Greenbrier to tie level with the aforementioned Rahm at the Old White course in West Virginia.

The American made a par with ease at the first playoff hole after Rahm found the sand and couldn't salvage a three, despite coming agonisingly close to holing his putt to extend the contest.

Koepka has now won five times on the breakaway tour since he joined in 2022, reportedly for more than $100m.

Asked whether he thinks he's the best player in the league, Koepka said: "I mean, that's a setup question.

"I'm not going to answer that because I'm sure everybody will tear me apart. But you have to believe in yourself and be super confident."

He added: "I feel like this year hasn't been -- this year has not been very good. It's nice to kind of try to end it on a high note.

"Obviously we've got two events left, so we'll see what we can do."

"No, not at all"

By his standards, Koepka has been particularly disappointing in the major championships this year.

Many golf analysts and fans have suggested the majors are the only thing Koepka truly cares about.

This year, Koepka tied for 45th at The Masters, tied for 26th at both the PGA Championship and US Open

And he finished in a tie for 43rd at The Open at Royal Troon.

Asked whether his latest LIV victory changes how he views the year, Koepka was blunt.

"No, not at all," he said.

"The four majors were pretty disappointing. I think I've only had two chances to win and I won them, but that's not enough."
