Pat Perez faced an uncertain future at the conclusion of LIV Golf's second campaign which saw Talor Gooch crowned the individual champion and Bryson DeChambeau's Crushers GC claim the team honours.

In contrast with some of the higher-profile golfers, Perez only signed a two-year contract with LIV.

The American finished the season as one of five players who were out of contract and in what LIV calls the 'open zone' in the individual standings.

What means is that they were free to sign for another team if they had an offer.

Carlos Ortiz has already declined a contract extension with Sergio Garcia's Fireballs. Early indications suggest David Puig will take his spot.

As for Perez, it has been confirmed that he will return for a third year with Dustin Johnson's 4 Aces GC. His teammate Peter Uihlein had already negotiated a contract extension after the season ended.

Patrick Reed will continue with the Aces as well, having signed a lucrative multi-year agreement in 2022.

Perez's LIV career began in somewhat controversial circumstances. He was widely ridiculed after he stated on GOLF's Subpar 'F no' when asked if he was going to get on the 'Saudi train' in a reference to LIV's financiers.

Later, he was pictured partying hard on a private jet which was said to have angered LIV bosses.

He also arrived at one LIV party wearing a t-shirt made out of dollar bills. He was also one of the 11 golfers named in an antitrust lawsuit against the PGA Tour

Every single player eventually withdrew from the litigation after LIV were officially added as a plaintiff.

Perez stated that he 'didn't think it through' when he initially got involved in the legal wranglings. He later admitted he just wanted to support his fellow LIV golfers.
