Exclusive: Sergio Garcia reveals Carlos Alcaraz beat him in latest golf match
Ryder Cup legend Sergio Garcia tells GolfMagic that tennis ace Carlos Alcaraz narrowly defeated him in a doubles golf match ahead of his US Open semi-final against Novak Djokovic.
Sergio Garcia has told GolfMagic his good pal and tennis ace Carlos Alcaraz got the better of him in a friendly doubles golf match on Wednesday.
Alcaraz, 22, revealed after his straight sets US Open quarter-final victory over Jiri Lehecka on Tuesday that he was going to be striding the fairways with his golf hero Garcia, 45, the following day.
The World No.2 tennis player dedicated his latest win to the Ryder Cup legend as he hit an invisible golf shot with his racket towards Garcia, who was watching on in the crowd alongside his wife Angela.
Alcaraz properly caught the golf bug during the Covid lockdown in 2020.

Instead of a straight 18-hole shootout between the two sporting superstars, Garcia teamed up with Alcaraz's tennis coach Juan Carlos Ferrero and Alcaraz partnered with Garcia's LIV Golf teammate David Puig.
Despite Alcaraz's hilarious urgings for Garcia to give him "10 to 15 shots", the 2017 Masters champion served him a few more.
It made for an epic match that went right down to the wire, with Alcaraz and Puig taking the win on the 18th green.
"Yeah we played a doubles match," Garcia confirmed to GolfMagic.
"It was Carlos Alcaraz and David Puig in the Fireballs, and Juan Carlos Ferrero and myself.
"We gave Carlos 18 shots and we gave Juan Carlos nine, and they beat us 1up on 18.
"We had a good time, it was nice, it was a tight match!"
Final Score:
Carlos Alcaraz & David Puig def. Sergio Garcia & Juan Carlos Ferrero 1up
Alcaraz, now with bragging rights over both his golf hero and tennis coach, faces a mouthwatering tussle back on the court against Novak Djokovic in Friday's semi-final at the US Open.
The Spaniard is a red-hot favourite to defeat Djokovic, 38, and reach the US Open final.
But the five-time grand slam winner will be taking nothing for granted against the record 24-time grand slam champion.
World No.1 Jannik Sinner, winner of four grand slam titles, faces Felix Auger Aliassime in Saturday's semi final.
Alcaraz is going in search of his second US Open title having won his first in 2022, while Sinner is looking to defend his title and also win a second.
Djokovic is a winner of four US Open titles, with his last coming in 2023.

Sergio Garcia on Ryder Cup disappointment and why he's pulled out of Irish Open ❌
[@GolfMagic] https://t.co/D8PHw2s3mT
Garcia is currently enjoying some downtime following the end of the 2025 LIV Golf season where he finished ninth on the Individual Championship.
He won the second LIV Golf title of his career with victory in Hong Kong in March.
The record Ryder Cup points scorer (28.5) was overlooked for one of six captain's picks by 2025 European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald on Monday.
Garcia was due to compete in this week's Irish Open on the DP World Tour but he told GolfMagic he decided to pull out after finding Donald's decision "mentally tough" to take.
Rory McIlroy then had his say on Garcia's absence from The K Club.
Garcia was attempting to join Sir Nick Faldo and Lee Westwood for a joint-record 11 appearances on the European Ryder Cup team.
The Spaniard is next scheduled to compete on the DP World Tour in front of his adoring home fans at the Open de Espana at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid from 9-12 October.
Garcia will very much be licking his lips at the prospect of potentially becoming the European Ryder Cup captain when the biennial dust-up heads to Camiral, Costa Brava, in 2031.
