Charley Hull confirmed as ambassador for Golf Foundation: "Hopefully I can help"
Charley Hull will support the GolfSixes League programme in Great Britain and Ireland as part of her new role as an ambassador for the Golf Foundation.
Charley Hull says she is hoping to get more girls into golf as part of her new role as an ambassador for the Golf Foundation.
The 29-year-old European Solheim Cup star will be focussing her efforts primarily on the GolfSixes League initiative.
It is one of the Golf Foundation's headline programmes, alongside the Unleash Your Drive mental wellbeing programme in schools and golf clubs.
It launched in 2017 with 27 clubs signing on, and has grown to new heights thanks to the backing of The R&A, and the support of the four Home Nations – England Golf, Scottish Golf, Wales Golf and Golf Ireland.
The format involves teams of six players competing over six holes in pairs using the inclusive Texas Scramble format, catering to non-handicap players or those with handicaps of 37 and above.
In 2024, 9,179 young people played GolfSixes League across 738 clubs, with 25 per cent of the players being girls.
Hull joins a growing roster of supporters for the charity, who boast Sky Sports pundit Nick Dougherty as their President, and have received support in recent years from Ryder Cup star Tommy Fleetwood, and former DP World Tour players Oli Fisher and Graeme Storm.
Hull has long been an inspiration to girls and women alike in the game, having been part of the wave of young British talent in recent years.
She first took up the game aged two and began playing alongside her dad at Kettering Golf Club.
She said: "I'm really excited to play a part, and hopefully to get along to some events.
"I'm always looking for ways to get more girls to watch and play the game, and what the Golf Foundation are doing is vital.
"The impressive numbers show that girls are interested in the format, so we just need to grow it and get more eyes on what is going on. Hopefully I can help."
Brendon Pyle, the chief executive of the Golf Foundation, said he was delighted to announce Hull as their latest ambassador.
He added: "Girls need to see strong and inspirational women like Charley playing golf and to see that the game is welcoming, fun and inclusive – exactly the values we promote via our hugely successful GolfSixes League initiative.
"A world-renowned golfer with a huge social media following, Charley will help attract more young girls into golf."
