Nelly Korda has been making history on and off the course this year. She added to her list of achievements by becoming the first golfer since Tiger Woods to attend the Met Gala.

Occurring annually on the first Monday of May, the Gala serves as a vital fundraiser for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Revered as one of fashion's most esteemed occasions, it attracts widespread attention and acclaim.

The event draws in the crème de la crème from showbiz, fashion, and sport, and Korda's attendance is a testament to her rising star power.

Attendance is strictly by invitation only; however, those who do turn up still have to pay a staggering $75k for the privilege.

The event was hosted at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and Korda walked the red carpet with fellow attendees, including actor Chris Hemsworth, reality TV star Kim Kardashian and fellow athlete Dwayne Wade.

Korda attended the event as Casey Wasserman, her agency chairman's guest, and wowed crowds in a stunning Oscar de la Renta dress covered in red flowers and green vines.

The theme for this year's gala was “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” and Korda duly delivered on the brief when she arrived at the event on Monday night.

Korda's attendance marked the first time an LPGA Tour player had appeared at the Gala and the first time a golfer had been invited since Woods in 2013.

It has been a blockbuster year for the young American star on the course, too, as she tied Annika Sorenstam and Nancy Lopez's record of winning five straight titles on the LPGA Tour when she won the Chevron Championship in April.

She will be aiming to go one better and make history with six straight wins when she tees it up at the Cognizant Founders Cup later this week.
