BMW Championship Betting Tips: Two players to take on short-priced Scheffler at Bellerive
Scottie Scheffler is a red-hot favourite at Bellerive, but we're looking elsewhere for a bit of value in the second FedEx Cup Playoffs event.
The FedEx Cup Playoffs move on to Bellerive Country Club in Missouri this week for the BMW Championship, with just 50 players remaining in the race for the season-ending Tour Championship.
As always, our betting tips come from GolfMagic Editor and expert tipster Andy Roberts, who has landed PGA Tour winners at odds of 35/1, 22/1 and 12/1 in recent months, as well as lots of place money including last week at TPC Southwind.
Scottie Scheffler is once again the obvious player to beat after his sensational eight-shot victory at last week's FedEx St Jude Championship, but at best odds 10/3, we believe the World No.1 is simply too short to back before a ball has been struck.
Instead, we're looking for some value with two each-way selections for the BMW Championship, which marks the second of three FedEx Cup Playoffs events.
Let's dive in...
BMW CHAMPIONSHIP 2026: BETTING TIPS
Sam Burns (22/1)
Sam Burns was one of our picks at 25/1 for last week's FedEx St Jude Championship and, while he couldn't quite land the win, his tied-third finish provided some each-way money.
The American was just two shots behind Scheffler heading into the final round at TPC Southwind, only for a disappointing 73 to end his hopes of challenging for the title.
Even so, his recent form is extremely difficult to ignore.
Burns has now recorded four top-five finishes in his last six PGA Tour starts, having also come close at both the U.S. Open and The Open this summer.
The 30-year-old has climbed to a career-best seventh in the world rankings, while his statistics underline just how well he is playing. He ranks second in strokes gained putting and 10th in strokes gained total.
That combination makes the best odds available of 22/1 look appealing.
Burns is still searching for his sixth PGA Tour title, with his last victory coming in March 2023, but he is clearly trending towards another win.
Bellerive is something of an unknown, with the 2018 PGA Championship the only PGA Tour event held there in the last 15 years. With limited course form to go on, current form could prove crucial.
Burns at 22/1 each-way (1/5, 1-5) is our standout play of the week.
Si Woo Kim (33/1)
Si Woo Kim is another player who has been knocking on the door for a PGA Tour victory.
The South Korean followed his near-miss at The Open last month by finishing solo second behind Scheffler at last week's FedEx St Jude Championship, closing with rounds of 68, 65 and 68.
Kim has now recorded three top-10 finishes in his last four starts, as well as five top-10s in his last eight appearances.
His underlying numbers are particularly impressive. The four-time PGA Tour winner ranks fourth in strokes gained total and third in strokes gained approach, highlighting just how strong his tee-to-green game has been in 2026.
The obvious concern is his putting. Kim ranks only 108th in strokes gained putting, and a cold putter has often been the difference between contention and victory.
However, his recent results suggest the flatstick is beginning to cooperate.
Now ranked a career-best 13th in the world, Kim looks overpriced if he can maintain that recent putting form.
Kim at 33/1 each-way (1/5, 1-5) looks tremendous value at Bellerive.
What about Scottie Scheffler?
Scheffler is undoubtedly the man to beat following his eight-shot demolition of the field at TPC Southwind.
The victory was his second of the season and the 21st PGA Tour title of his career.
The American typically plays well at this time of the season too, having won the FedEx Cup in 2024.
But while we wouldn't put anyone off backing him outright, 10/3 is simply too short for us, particularly at a venue where there is very little recent course form.
Bellerive last hosted the PGA Championship in 2018, when Brooks Koepka won at 16-under par, two shots ahead of Tiger Woods. Adam Scott, Stewart Cink and Jon Rahm rounded out the top five.
Scheffler did not play that week, just like many others in the field this week.
Long hitters and elite ball strikers will thrive at this track, so it should Scheffler down the ground.
But Burns and Kim are also striking it nicely at the moment, and we are confident our 22/1 and 33/1 selections can at least sneak a top-five finish and get us in the money once more.
If Scheffler arrives with his A-game again like last week then everyone is playing for second, there is no doubt about it.
At the prices though, we are more than prepared to look further afield ahead of Thursday's first round.
If you're having a play this week, good luck – and please remember to gamble responsibly.
