Furious (!) Rickie Fowler yells at spectator during Players Championship

Multiple PGA Tour winner Rickie Fowler was filmed getting frustrated with a spectator during the third round of the Players Championship.

The American narrowly avoided missing the cut at the $25m flagship event.

That being said there was still big bucks for Fowler to play for so he wanted to do his level best to move up the leaderboard.

Unfortunately Fowler's attempt to get his score moving in the right direction was interrupted by an incident involving a spectator on the 16th hole.

According to reports from those who witnessed the full exchange, Fowler's caddie had asked the person to put their phone on silent.

Judging by Fowler's reaction the spectator did not oblige and distracted the golfer in the middle of his swing.

As soon as Fowler's tee shot left the tee box, he turned to the spectator and yelled: "You! What are you doing?"

Fowler's caddie Ricky Romano could be heard saying: "Come on, I just said something."

Clearly, the exchange rattled Fowler and he went on to make a double bogey on the hole after hitting his second shot on the par-5 into the water.

Fowler then proceeded to hit the subsequent shot in the hazard as well.

On his sixth stroke, he sent a dart into the green that went a matter of inches from the hole and he tapped in for a seven.
