The golf world might be standing up to applaud Nick Dunlap for entering the PGA Tour record books at The American Express, but it's fair to say a number of golf fans are divided over one of his strongest passions away from the golf course.

Just as we have seen with numerous other PGA Tour players such as reigning Open champion Brian Harman, it has come to light on Instagram that 20-year-old Dunlap enjoys a lot of deer hunting in his spare time.

Dunlap set a number of standout milestones on the PGA Tour following his narrow one-stroke victory at The American Express.

He not only became the first amateur to win a PGA Tour event since Phil Mickelson in 1991, and the eighth overall, but he also became the second youngest amateur to win on the PGA Tour and the youngest in 93 years.

Dunlap even set the low 72-hole score at The American Express of 29-under par

Perhaps his proudest record of all though is that he and Tiger Woods are the only golfers to have won the US Amateur, US Junior Amateur and a PGA Tour title.

Dunlap won the US Amateur in 2023, as well as the US Junior Amateur in 2021.

Jon Rahm was quick to send a message of congrulations to Dunlap during a week where he has to make a big call on his team.

The only setback for Dunlap was that he did not get to pick up the hefty first-prize cheque due to his amateur status.

Dunlap now has a decision to make on whether to turn professional, and we've taken a look at some of the pros and cons to such a decision here.

But away from his incredible achievement in the Californian desert, it has not taken long for a number of golf fans to chime in with their thoughts on Dunlap deer hunting.

Dunlap has amassed just shy of 40k followers on his Instagram page following his shock victory where he started the week as an outside 400/1 shot for the win.

In amongst all of his golfing posts and snaps of his girlfriend Isabella Ellis, there are photos of Dunlap's passion for deer hunting.

Dunlap created his last deer hunting post in December 2023.

He also posted again in February 2022.

The photos have seemingly divided golf fans on social media, with some in favour of his hobby while others are not so amused.

We won't list all the comments in here, but feel free to check them out for yourselves on Twitter and Instagram.
