Tiger Woods has taken to social media to offer his congratulations to Tommy Fleetwood on capturing his first PGA Tour title.

Fleetwood, 34, saw out a three-shot victory at the Tour Championship on Sunday to win the season-long FedEx Cup race in the process.

Following seasons of heartache on the PGA Tour and six agonising runner-up finishes, Fleetwood finally won on the circuit in his 164th start.

Woods, 49, was mightily impressed by Fleetwood's efforts and he took to X / Twitter to let him know how proud he was of his fellow TaylorMade staffer.

"Your journey is a reminder that hard work, resilience, and heart do pay off. No one deserves it more. Congrats @TommyFleetwood1," wrote Woods, who was one of a number of sporting stars and celebrities to congratulate Fleetwood on social media.

"I said this last month or so when I've been in contention, it's been amazing, and to get the support like that is just so special, and I never want to lose that," said an emotional Fleetwood on the 18th green at East Lake.

"I hope everybody knows how grateful I am for it, and I said we'll do it together, and I felt like we did today.

"So I'm really grateful for everybody that supported me and supported me through this."

Fleetwood will now turn his attention to the DP World Tour and next month's Ryder Cup.

He is one of six automatics on Luke Donald's team joining Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Bob MacIntyre, Tyrrell Hatton and Rasmus Hojgaard.

Donald will make his six picks on Monday 1 September.

Woods has been out of competitive action since missing the cut at last year's Open at Royal Troon.

The 15-time major champion ruptured his left Achilles tendon in March 2025 and he underwent successful surgery.

It is anticipated Woods will return to action in early 2026, a season where he will be eligible to compete on the PGA Tour Champions.

There is potential that Woods will team up with his son Charlie again in the annual PNC Championship just before Christmas.
