Multiple PGA Tour winner confirms date of return after five-month absence
Multiple PGA Tour winner Billy Horschel has confirmed he'll return to action following a five-month spell on the sidelines.
Multiple PGA Tour winner Billy Horschel has confirmed when he'll make his long-awaited return from injury after a five-month spell on the sidelines.
Horschel revealed in early May he was going under the knife for surgery on his right hip.
The procedure, Horschel explained, was 'preventative' and he was aiming to start his rehabilitation as soon as possible.
It meant Horschel was forced to miss three of the four major championships and also torpedoed any hopes he had of making the 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup team.
Horschel had very mixed results before making the decision with his team to have the surgery, with the golfer missing five cuts - including The Masters - in 12 starts.
He also had top 10 finishes at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Valspar Championship.
The 38-year-old has now confirmed he'll make his first appearance since the RBC Heritage at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.
Horschel has won the DP World Tour's flagship event twice in his career.
A thrilling final-round 65 saw him lift the title first in 2021 and he triumphed again last September, overcoming Rory McIlroy in an absorbing play-off.
"It's official," Horschel wrote on X. "Returning to the game I love next month @BMWPGA! Excited to get back out there competing against the best players in the world and playing in front of the fans again.
"See everyone soon!"

Horschel resigns DP World Tour membership
Horschel also revealed in a video uploaded to his Instagram that he has been forced to resign from the DP World Tour.
It was a decision that he did not want to make but his injury means that he is unable to fulfil to fulfil the required four starts he needs to retain membership.
Horschel said the decision is not permanent.
"I’m proud to call myself a DP World Tour member, as well as a PGA Tour member," Horschel said.
"Unfortunately, due to my injury, I will not be able to fulfil my minimum requirement for the 2025 season.
"After consulting with the DP World Tour and their member regulations, the best course of action is to resign my membership for 2025. But I am committed to being a full DP World Tour member in 2026 again.
"I've enjoyed being a member over the last handful of years and I've enjoyed playing around the world and competing with the best players."
