PGA Tour Driving Distance 2026: Top 100 Leaders
Aldrich Potgieter set to beat Rory McIlroy in the race for PGA Tour's longest driver of 2026.

Driving distance does not guarantee victories on the PGA Tour, but there is no denying that it helps.
The further you can hit the ball off the tee, the shorter your approach shot becomes, giving players more opportunities to attack pins and put pressure on their opponents.
With the 2026 PGA Tour season nearly in the books, Aldrich Potgieter is once again leading the driving distance charts.
The big-hitting South African is averaging an incredible 331.9 yards off the tee this season with his PXG Lightning Tour Max Driver.
Potgieter uses a 9-degree model with a Fujikura Ventus TR Black 7 X shaft.
That puts him narrowly ahead of World No.2 and grand slam champion Rory McIlroy, who sits second on the list at 330.3 yards.
McIlroy uses TaylorMade's latest Qi4D Driver, also in 9 degrees with a Fujikura Ventus Black 6 X shaft.
Potgieter is currently on course to top the PGA Tour distance charts for a second straight season.
McIlroy is once again his closest challenger, having also finished second behind Potgieter in 2025.
McIlroy, 37, last led the PGA Tour in driving distance in 2023 at 326.3 yards, but his 2026 season has once again underlined that there is much more to his game than simply power.
In April, McIlroy became just the fourth player in history to successfully defend The Masters, adding another major achievement to an already remarkable career.
That remains McIlroy's sole victory of 2026 to date, however, despite his remarkable consistency and his position as the second-longest driver on the PGA Tour.
Potgieter's remarkable power has already delivered one PGA Tour title.
He won the Rocket Classic in 2025 for his maiden PGA Tour victory, but despite his outrageous length off the tee, he is yet to win on the circuit this season.
The powerful 22-year-old currently sits 74th in the FedExCup Fall standings, and his PGA Tour card is safe for 2027 whatever happens in October and November.
Outside of the Potgieter-McIlroy tussle at the top of the driving distance standings, there is a three-yard gap to Michael Brennan in third, with the big-hitting American averaging 327.4 yards.
Brennan has proven distance matters over the past 12 months having registered two wins on the circuit at the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship where he won by four shots and 2026 Wyndham Championship where he won by three.
European duo Nicolai Højgaard and Marco Penge then round out the top five, with both averaging more than 324 yards, but neither has won on the circuit.
The depth of distance is perhaps the most striking feature of the 2026 numbers, as 13 players are averaging at least 320 yards, while every player inside the top 50 is averaging more than 311 yards.
And while distance clearly provides an advantage, it does not automatically lead to trophies.
Potgieter is the obvious example. He is the longest player on the PGA Tour by more than a yard, yet has not added to his PGA Tour win tally this season.
Then there is Scottie Scheffler.
The four-time major champion and runaway World No.1 sits only 38th in average driving distance at 312.7 yards — still enormous by normal standards — proving that you do not have to be the longest player to be the best.
Ultimately, driving distance gives players an advantage.
The shorter the approach, the greater the opportunity.
But the players who combine that power with elite iron play, consistency and a reliable short game are the ones who turn those extra yards into trophies.
